About
Eric Kao was born and raised in Southern California, raised by immigrant parents in tandem with a diverse array of mentors, teachers and communities. His formal education of craft was later supplemented with extensive worldwide travel which led him to explore how his personal and cultural identity was influenced by cultures around the world. Eric discovered the common ground of ceramics in every continent he explored and utilized material history to shed light in the importance of traditions within his concepts. After spending many years in Jingdezhen, China directing programming, community, culture and education, he returned to the United States and created a home in Signal Hill, CA just before the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2022, he set out for Taiwan with a vision to create programming for domestic and international artists to intermingle, something he has benefited greatly from. Eric’s degrees in Fine Arts, his first hand experiences travelling and his hybrid views on culture allows him to create dynamic programming that fosters the growth of contemporary cultures. He splits his time between Asia and America as a maker, designer and a promoter of creativity through international programming.
